We’d heard about the “Slide” project at June 24th for the first time. Now we know that the team headed by the Lexus Chief engineer Haruhiko Takanashi has been working on it for 18 months and that the Lexus hoverboard is powered by magnets and superconductors cooled by liquid nitrogen. That’s why this levitating sci-fi device resembles a steam train.
Several weeks ago the Spanish resource El Patin posted several photos of a skate park under construction. They are sure it is a testing site for the Lexus hoverboard and its coverage hides special rails or magnetically charged metal plates which are necessary for the Slide. El Patin also wrote that workers tried to have a ride on the levitating board but suddenly failed.
Lexus says it will reveal everything about Slide at August 5th. This is so heart-pounding! How do you think, will this device be mass produced ever or will it just be a little more affordable than an average Lexus SUV?
